2 championship golf courses a short drive away, South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island for shopping, art museums, Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. Walk across the bridge to Bilbao Island.
The newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade runs for five days in mid December each year, from Wednesday to Sunday, then the boats cruise elsewhere over the weekends.
Some of the entrants spend up to US$50,000 decorating their vessels for this event. 100 boats, canoes and kayaks cruise the harbour decked in thousands of lights.
The parade starts at Collins Island at 6.30 each evening and ends at the same spot some hours later.
If you wish, you may book a seat on one of the party boats in the harbour, or take a waterside table at any of Newport Beach's fine restaurants.
