The list includes Empress Elizabeth l of Austria, Edward Vlll, Captain Scott on his way to the Antarctic, and George Bernard Shaw, who arrived in 1924 to work, sunbathe and take lessons to master the Tango.
The Hotel was used as a base by John Huston and Gregory Peck during the filming of Moby Dick, and in 1959 by the notorious and defeated Cuban dictator, General Batista.
