| Additional Comments |
St Catherine's Court is a Grade 1 Listed Monument, an early Jacobean, late Tudor Court, built in the Renaissance style, dating back to 950 AD. Once the seat of the Abbots of Bath, St Catherine's Court still provides as a Parish Church.
Purchased by Miss Seymour whilst filming 'Jamaica Inn' in 1984,a full restoration was begun on this splendid building, which now proudly features sumptuous soft furnishings and beautifully appointed bathrooms finished in natural stone.
The interiors have been carefully updated by Miss Seymour, assisted by Joanna Hughes. The result is a magnificent blend of history and modern comfort.
Log fires provide the ambience of an English stately home, while the addition of underfloor heating boosts comfort levels to an appropriate temperature.
The grounds offer a fabulous palette of sculptured flower gardens, terraces and even a vineyard. Ancient yew hedges exist in harmony with ponds, fountains and newly opened paths integrating the woodlands.
Easy access is a bonus here, convenient to the airport in Bristol, local train connections and also reasonably close to the Motorway.
The City of Bath is a short drive away, famous for its Hot Springs and Spa water, steeped in Roman history and rich in Georgian architecture. Jane Austen lived here and set two of her novels in the City of Bath.
A must for culture vultures, Bath offers a wealth of theatres, museums, and galleries. Not to mention the wonderful antique and special interest shops and restaurants. Try viewing the city from a hot air balloon!
